“When a woman temporarily drops her roles and responsibilities, a wellspring of creativity, strength, insight and pure pleasure naturally arises.
she must empty her cup in order to be filled.”

“Quando uma mulher abdica temporariamente dos seus deveres e responsabilidades, nela emerge, naturalmente, uma fonte de criatividade, força, visão e puro prazer.
Ela necessita esvaziar seu cálice para o voltar a encher.”

Can you tell me more about our hosts - Bernadette, Carla and judy?

Bernadette Wesley moved from Minnesota to Porto, Portugal 4 years ago with her husband and two teenage daughters. She had always dreamed of returning to Europe (after living in France in her early 20’s), and the beautiful city and people of Porto won her heart – and her family’s heart as well. Bernadette works with women in the US and Europe, helping them access their life dreams as a catalyst for positive change in every area of their lives – in relationships, health and financial abundance. She has over 20 years coaching experience and is certified in Energy Psychology (EFT) and Mind/Body Therapy. She has worked in diverse settings, including corporate and small businesses as well as Founder and Director of a holistic education center for young adults. Bernadette holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Villanova University in Philadelphia, PA as well as Graduate Studies in Intercultural Communication at St. Thomas University in St. Paul, MN.

Carla Ferreira grew up in Leiria, Portugal and has a diverse background in psychotherapy, dance, movement therapy, and shiatsu massage. She supports clients in finding their soul and true purpose in life by getting in touch with their emotions and expressing themselves in mind and body. She is also the owner of "Raw" in Matosinhos - a unique cafe offering healthy snacks, smoothies and bulk whole foods. Carla studied shiatsu at the Instituto Macrobiótico de Portugal in Lisbon and Hospitality Management at the Universidade Católica de Portugal, Porto as well as psychotherapy at the Associação Portuguesa de Terapia do Comportamento.

What should I bring?

Autumn at Vale de Torre is lush and beautiful, yet a bit unpredictable. The daytime hours can be warm and the evening hours can be on the cooler side. So, it is advised to bring layers! Also, be sure to bring comfortable walking shoes.

We also suggest you bring something special to wear to the Celebration Dinner on Saturday evening. This does not have to be anything fancy, just something that expresses your playful spirit and sense of adventure (could be a necklace, scarf, or simply wear your favorite color).

Here are some other suggestions:

* Shade hat
* Sun block
* Light wool socks (that dry quickly)
* Notebook/journal and pen
* Warm sweater, wrap or jacket for the evening
* Comfortable shoes
* "Play" clothes
* Special accessory or clothing item for the Celebration Dinner

Can we use the art room and visit the ponies?

Of course! Vale de Torre has a beautiful art room that you are welcome to use to play and create (we have some art supplies, but feel free to bring your own). We are also graced with the presence of two very sweet ponies that you can help take care of, if you wish. Or, simply enjoy their playful presence on the property.
